Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD)

Engineers in water sensitive urban design (WSUD) work to integrate sustainable water management practices into the design and construction of urban areas. This can include designing systems for stormwater management, such as rain gardens and green roofs, as well as incorporating techniques for water conservation and reuse, such as greywater recycling and rainwater harvesting. Engineers in this field also work to minimize the impact of urban development on natural water systems, such as streams and wetlands, and may help to restore degraded waterways.
